According to David Webb, the Cedar Creek Brewery will hold their first Cedar Creek Lake Festival on April 23, 2016. Admission to the event, which will feature booths presented by individuals, businesses and organization, will be free. There will also be live bands and local artists, food and beverage stations, and a kids’ area.

In addition to the upcoming Cedar Creek Lake Festival, the Cedar Creek Brewery has many regularly scheduled events that Harbor Light Villas homeowners may enjoy. Water in Cedar Creek Lake is stained; 49–53 degrees; 0.10′ low, according to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. Black bass are fair on Texas rigged creature baits and spinnerbaits. White bass are good on slabs and minnows. Hybrid striper are fair on slabs. Crappie are fair on jigs and minnows. Catfish are slow on trotlines.

Water Data for Texas reported that Cedar Creek Reservoir is 99.3% full as of February 18, 2016. It has been full or almost full for several months.

According to Water Data for Texas, Cedar Creek Lake is almost full, at 99.6%. It has remained at or near 100% for the past three months.

The Humane Society of Cedar Creek Lake is hosting their 4th annual Whiskers & Wags gala benefiting the Friends of the Animals at Cedar Creek Lake and The Humane Society of Cedar Creek Lake on April 23, 2016, at the Athens Country Club.

General admission tickets are $75, and reservations are available. See sponsorships are available by calling (903) 887-7387. All of the proceeds directly benefit the animals. Donations will be gladly accepted if you cannot attend.

Entertainment includes dining, dancing, cash bar, live auction, and silent raffle. The event begins with registration and a cocktail reception at 6:00 p.m. and concludes at 10:00 with the announcement of auction and raffle winners.

The Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center in Athens is hosting Fly Fish Texas on March 12 for anglers near Cedar Creek Lake. Instructors and experts from fly-fishing clubs across Texas will teach the basics of fly-tying and casting, and will be available to help anyone who wants to improve. Equipment will be provided for the classes, but fly-fishing enthusiasts may bring their own tackle.
